Hello there!

Please help me...

My Laptop’s OS is Windows 2000 and Desktop’s OS is Windows 98 Standard Edition.

The problem is laptop hard disk is not accessible from desktop, but the desktop hard disk is accessible from laptop.

Any idea how  to access it???

Thanks....

Hallo Addisone,

The basic thing to do here is to ensure that you have set both the laptop and the desktop computer on the same domain name (work group name). To view the work group name:

  • Right click on Computer, then properties.
  • You should see the work group in the window that will come up.
  • If the names differ, then change them to be one for both the laptop and the desktop computer.
  • Click Ok.

You should also ensure that you have turned on network discovery on both computers and you have also shared the public documents and folders to be able to access them. Click network and sharing center in the task bar and then advanced sharing options to view this.
