Technology is advanced in our day-to-day life. At first with then evolution of high level programming, applications that were built could run only one specific hardware and machine, with a predefined set of platforms and Operating systems. Later the web needed advancements in the field for a global language. It brought up the HTML standard that is used almost all over  every browser. The main problem was incorporating an application in the web browser. This was made possible with Java. The JVM enabled machine could run applets that served applications in the web browsers itself. Now the JVM are made machine and O S specific, but the applications can be run on any machine with a JVM installed.

Hi Emma Robinson,

James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton, at Sun Microsystems, were the co-creators of java, where James Gosling is known as the Father Of java. The language was first called Oak, because of an Oak tree that stood outside Gosling's office. Then it was later named to Java because the creators consumed a large amount of Java coffee. The major capability they gave to this language is that you can write this code once and can be run anywhere. It is platform independent, unlike C/C++. This is known as the "Write Once, Run Anywhere" (WORA)" feature. And it is Object Oriented. The Sun Microsystems released the first implementation of java in 1995. Later Sun Microsystems was acquired by Oracle

Hope it helps
