Is it possible to make the shared folders on a Windows Server 2003 network not visible to the users? If so, how can it be done?

It is possible to hide the shared folder from Access control list in Windows Server. Here you can hide the folder without getting noticed. You can only allow certain users to access the folder. You can use Access-based Enumeration. This will only work on Windows Server 2003(SP1).It’s free to download.

Here is the link to download.

Hello!

There are two possible ways that could have caused this situation. One is “hidden folder” and another is “hidden shares.”

  1. For hidden folder

    • Check if this folder exists by performing command line “dir /A HD” in the directory that contains this folder in the server.
  2. For hidden share

    • Click “net share” in the server to list all shared folders.

From here, you can create and delete hidden or administrative shares.
