I’m a music student and want some help choosing best tools available there. I heard about windows media tools for win 7, does anybody has idea about these tools? Please list them for me and what are their uses and also hardware and software requirements for using them. If there are other tools, also list them. Thank you.

There are two types of Windows Media Tools. The first type of tools will help you create your ASF file.
NB: ASF is a video format developed by Microsoft also called Windows Media Format.
Windows Media Encoder to convert and compress audio and video content.
Windows Media Plug-In for Adobe Premiere also provides compression and conversion of your video files into ASF from using Adobe Premiere.
Windows Media Authorto display a simulation of your .asf file before their creation.
Windows Media Presenter for Microsoft PowerPoint toturn a PowerPoint presentation into an ASF stream.
VidToASF.A command-line utility that will help you convert .avi or .mov files into .asf files.
WavToASFthat converts .wav or .mp3 files into .asf files
After creating your ASF file, you can manage it using 3 tools:
Windows Media ASF Indexer which is agraphical tool for editing .asf files.ASFChop which is a command-line utility for editing .asf files especially for adding markers and properties.
Finally ASFCheck which is acommand-line utility that verifies .asf file formats and checks for problems to repair.
