Many new cameras and are being developed which can be used to capture photos and videos in  full HD quality but the main problem is that the size of images and videos are getting fatter these days. Are there any tricks which can be used in order to reduce the size of an video or image but without making any changes to quality?

That is what I also notice with the videos today, the higher the quality, the bigger the file size. Especially if the video is in HD format, expect it to be big even if the duration of the video is just short. Since I am also doing some video editing from time to time during my free time, what I usually do to reduce the file size without degrading the quality of the video is to use a format or file type that has the best video compression.

And with this, I use MP4 file format. The AVI file format also produces best video quality but the file size is bigger compared to MP4. Another way of reducing the file size is to lower down the screen resolution or the screen size of the video. This is because, the bigger the screen size of the video, the bigger its file size will be.

Like for example, if your video’s screen dimension is 720 x 576, you can probably lower it down to 640 x 480 or 352 x 288. When you decrease the screen size, it will also decrease the file size of the video. The difference when you decrease the screen size of the video is during playback.

Instead of getting the original screen size, you will now have a much smaller video image. Unfortunately, once you reduce the screen size of the video, you cannot go back or restore it to its original size without losing quality because of a much smaller image.
