Hello Friends,

I heard from one of my friends that Windows NT creates permanently free main memory, So ST06 transaction shows a very high value for Free Physical Memory  when compared to Available Physical Memory.

Is that point true. Can anyone help me by briefing more points about free main memory.

Thanks,

George Saunders

The NT version of Windows uses a system for paging out which are not locate in an active process or memory addresses of it.

This system makes permanent free main memory and it shows high value for "Physical Memory Free" in weigh against to "Physical Memory available".

When the number of work processes is increased for any incorrect interpretation then the unused main memory still available.

Procedure of Checking Unused Memory:

Step 1: Just call Transaction ST06 (not AS/400).

Step 2: Now lookup the values & compare them. Generally, value of Physical Memory Free higher than the value of Physical Memory Available.

Warnings:

>  Please don't raise the number of work processes by seeing high value of Physical Memory Free.

                 >  There is no significance of value of Physical Memory Free for any memory load
