Help with IMAP server error message

Good day,

Everytime I tried to login into my AOL account I get the following error “failed to connect to IMAP server” thus leaving me with no email. This only started recently and I’m still able to view my mail if I go through my browser. I tried to reinstall AOL but nothing, please help me.

Hello,

This issue might happen due to Microsoft Office and Microsoft Powerpoints updates from Windows Update. However, you may try to verify the exact cause by using System Restore. Simply restore your system to a previous state to obtain the result. In order to resolve the problem, I would like to propose you several options.

  1. Go to your email page. Click Settings and choose your email account.
  2. Next, select Edit and choose Change the security. Please change your security settings from tls to ssl and save the settings. Finally, refresh the email page to see whether it has been fixed or not. 
  3. If you found the problem is on the version of AOL Desktop, you may try to reload the AOL software.
