The side effects of having too much personal computer time varies from one person to another. Some of these effects would be:  having poor eyesight as time goes by, getting repetitive strain injury or commonly known as RSI which is caused by repetitive movements like typing, lack of social life since you are intimately drawn into your computer, others are getting fatter since the body lacks exercise because of too much sitting in front of your computer, sleep disorders like insomnia might occur, headaches are inevitable too because of the eye strain that we are getting, back pains that results from improper sitting positions and a whole lot more.

Too much of something is poisonous. However, as far as computer use is concerned, what you refer as “too much” will depend on how one uses the PC. Improper use, rather than overuse, is actually what will cause some of the side effects. Your eyes, health and posture will be most affected by over use. Lack of exercise and poor eyesight will affect someone who works on his computer more than he should. It is advised that you take frequent breaks after every 50 minutes or so to ensure your eyes are not exposed to the glare more than they should. An ergonomic chair will help you adopt a proper posture in order to reduce fatigue. Regular exercise everyday is especially encouraged. If you follow these tips you do not have to worry about the side effects.

Another solution is to avoid, as much as possible, playing games and casual chat in oder to reduce the ammount of time you spend in front of the computer.

Yes dear Goldie Bond you are right. Excess of anything goes against your health. The excess usage of personal computer heavily affects our health. This includes back pain due to sitting in one position. Strain in eyes and decrease in eyesight due to continuously looking at the screen. The stress and pain in fingers start to appear due to working continuously on a pc. There have been cases even of fatality due to continuous usage of pcs like for two and three days. The other non visible health issue is of psychological effects on mind due to low or no social contacts at all.
