Having problems with Dell Data Vault

I was playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive when suddenly my PC freezes and after about 5 to 30 minutes of playing, my screen turns black and sometimes shows vertical lines. I am using Dell XPS 8700 with Windows 8.1 Pro. When I checked on the Event Log, I noticed that it is a problem with the Dell Data Vault program installed on my computer. Then I deleted the vault folder of the Dell Data thinking that it can help on resolving the issue. However, the issue still occurs and shows an error of: "The Dell Data Vault Wizard service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified". Please take note that this issue only happens when playing CS:Go.

Since the freezing happens only while playing Cs:go, the issue seems to be  related to the video drivers of the computer. Also the deletion of the Dell data vault folder has affected in creating a loophole in your gaming system.

To overcome both these issues, it is advisable to,

  1. Check for errors in windows device manager & fix those errors accordingly
  2. Get the latest drivers for your computer’s main devices like the video & sound and solve any network connectivity problems, if any
  3. Install the latest updates of the game

If you are sure that it is the Dell Data Vault application that caused the vertical lines to appear, restore the vault folder you deleted from the Recycle Bin. If the Recycle Bin has not been emptied yet then there is still a chance to recover it. Once it is restored, uninstall Dell Data Vault using the Add or Remove Programs.

Click Start, Control Panel, and then Add or Remove Programs. Select Dell Data Vault from the list then click Uninstall or Remove. Restart your computer when you are prompted. Try playing Counter-Strike again and check if the game freezes again. Your issue with the appearance of the vertical lines may also be related to your graphics adapter. Try updating your video card to the latest driver.

If you are using an NVIDIA video card, visit NVIDIA Driver Downloads to get the latest. If you are using an ATI Radeon video card, visit Drivers Plus Download Center to get the latest. For other graphics adapter brands, visit the manufacturer’s website for the latest driver.
