Is there anyone who has come across this problem before?
When working with another software or application then when you save the document it automatically changes to a word document .txt file.
Any idea on how to fix this.

Having problem with txt file
Which program are you using to edit the document? That should be occurring may be because you have set the files that you are creating by that program to be with the .txt by default. You will therefore need to change the default format in which the files created by that document are to be saved.
Locate any file that you have created by that application and then right click on it. Choose open with and then from the lost of programs choose the program that you want to be used to open that document. If the program is not among the listed ones then browse it either on the desktop or in the program files. Ensure that you choose the option for opening all files that are in the similar format using that program.
