I am a new user of Microsoft Windows 7. Before that I used Microsoft Windows XP and I learnt a lot of shortcut keys. But when I tried to use those shortcut keys like start menu button+u+u (For shut down) those are not working in Windows 7!! Is there any other shortcut keys for windows 7?

Hi,

Actually windows 7 changed some of the shortcuts, Windows Seven default Start Menu button was changed to Shutdown mode instead of hibernate in windows vista. Thankfully, Microsoft listened to thousands of users asking why.

The shortcut keys to shutdown windows 7 are: windows button+ right+ enter.

If you want all the shortcuts used in windows 7

You can also create keyboard shortcuts to open programs as shown on the official site of windows

Hope this helped.

Hi Shurma,

There are some keys that are general in XP and windows 7. For shutdown you can use windows + Right arrow+ Enter. For creating new folders just use ctrl + shift + N. For startup you can use windows key.

By clicking Windows+ home you can minimize all the windows. Windows +L lock the windows. You can use it again by unlocking with a password. Alt+ tab can be use to keep track with multiple windows as same as in XP. Task manager shortcut is completely different. Alt+ ctrl+ delete was in XP and is changed to Alt+ ctrl +escape.

Hope this help!
