Hi,

Very good question. Windows usually will take around 20 GB – 25 GB. I would recommend that you partition your HD to 2, system partition around 100 GB and the rest on the other partition. Its better this way just to make sure you have enough space for future software and applications to be installed in your system. If your system drive runs out of space, you cannot add space from the other drive to your system drive, it will mess up everything. So to be sure, make it 100 GB for your system drive/windows 7. You will experience better performance by doing so.

Hi, You can make as many partition as you want. But if you want only 2, Then make one partition of 50 GB (in which you are supposing to do Window Installation) and rest will be created automatically of available space.

500GB space is a lot! You can divide your hard drive into two partitions since Windows 7 32-bit installation will only require 16GB of Hard Disk space and the 64-bit will only require at least 20GB of Hard Disk space. But of course you still need extra spaces for saving other programs and applications. And you need 1GB of RAM (32-bit) and 2GB of RAM (64-bit).

If you want to install Microsoft Windows 7, check the system requirements first and make sure your computer meets those requirements. These requirements refer to your computer hardware like the processor, RAM or the memory, video card, and so on.

Microsoft Windows 7 requires 1 GHz or faster 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 1 GB RAM for 32-bit and 2 GB RAM for 64-bit, 16 GB free space for 32-bit and 20 GB for 64-bit, and Microsoft DirectX 9-compatible video card with WDDM 1.0 driver or higher. Additional requirements include:

  • Additional 1 GB RAM and 15 GB free space is required for Windows XP mode.
  • A USB flash drive is required for BitLocker To Go.
  • To use HomeGroup, you need a network with computers running on Microsoft Windows 7.
  • Some games and applications may require a video card compatible with Microsoft DirectX 10 or higher for the best performance.
