Hi all,

I am using windows media player 9 on a dell windows 98 SE PC. Everytime, I start media player, I get a grey screen that pops up saying Internet explorer script error.

"An error has occurred on this page line: 392 Char: 190 Error: Expected identifier, string or number. Code: 0
URL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4046109/groove-music-and-spotify-faq

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes or No. "

If I choose yes, the error goes away and I can work within media player. If I choose no, it's the same thing. The problems is, I need to fix this error, because every time I START MEDIA PLAYER, THIS ERROR DISPLAYS AND IS ANNOYING.

I tried changing the advanced internet options, still doesn't work.

Can anyone HELP?

Thanks.

Hello Cecilia,

To resolve the issue that you are getting when using windows media player, you will need to try the following resolutions:

  • You may be using an old version of Java on your machine which is causing the error to happen; therefore you will need to try upgrading to the latest version of Java on your machine and see if it might work.
  • The problem may also be with Windows Media Player itself. There may be some problems with the codecs, they could be out of date. You will therefore need to go to the menu bar and the right click >> Help, and then check for updates to find and install the latest codecs.

Regards,

Carl
