I settled with the digital ocean for a virtual server and SoftEther for the VPN service. Once connected, I have an IP in New York but Google keeps redirecting me to their site in Hong Kong. If I get the VPN disconnected American site as usual. I do not know what happened. I use Mac OS X 10.9 and Firefox 26, if that matters.

Hello,

You must set your desired location through the VPN service. Navigate to your VPN site or access your VPN settings through software provided by the service. Once you have accessed your account settings, there should be a clearly labeled dashboard providing access for customization for every possible aspect of usage you would want to change. Navigate to your connection settings and set your permanent preferred point-of-access country. If you still experience a problem, use an anonymous browser, but you should be aware that use of an anonymous browser limits what you can access. Anonymous browser traffic is rejected by many sites.
