I received this problem after I downloaded and installed Google Chrome:

Chrome.exe Program Fault

The Software never initialized effectively (0xc0000005). Press on OK to eliminate the program. I  removed chrome extensions and restarted my PC. I am using Windows XP SP3.

Is a problem with my installation?

Thank you.

Dear Caspian zec, I have read your query.

Have you any Symantec Security Product installed on your machine? If that is the case, then Symantec Security is the reason behind this bug. In that case you can fix this bug following these instructions. First of all you need to back up your registry as it involves changing registry. Type cmd in Run from Start Menu and hit enter to open Command Prompt. Type regedit in Command Prompt and hit enter to open Registry Editor. Look for SysPlant through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesSysPlant and open Start DWORD. Now disable drivers by changing value to 4 and reboot your system for changes to take effect. After restart you will not encounter this problem.

On the other hand, try using Google Chrome with no sandbox. To do so, right click on Shortcut of Google Chrome on your desktop and click on properties. Now just paste --no-sandbox at the end of path in Target line. This may also resolve your issue.

I hope it helped.

At the moment, the Google Chrome web browser no longer supports Windows XP. Google Chrome 49.0.2623.112-m is the last version to support Windows XP and Windows Vista. If you want to install the latest version, you need Windows 7 and higher. If you still have Windows XP Service Pack 3, search this version on the internet and download it.

For users with supported operating systems, download the latest Google Chrome web browser. The latest version at the moment supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. This link downloads the offline installer. For Mac users, download the Google Chrome installation file. Once downloaded, open the downloaded file called “googlechrome.dmg”. On the next screen, locate Chrome then drag it to the “Applications” folder.

Next, start Chrome then launch Finder. In the sidebar, to the right of Google Chrome, click “Eject”.
