I am trying to install Gnome shell in Ubuntu 11.10. I have tried to install it both with the software center and with a terminal. My updates are all up to date. How can install Gnome Shell in Ubuntu 11.10?

I expect Gnome shell is already installed and configured in the version of Ubuntu that you are saying of. The shell is installed and might not be configured for your usage. This is a mere ice breaking approach where you need to go through the entire manual for finding the special features by which you can install and configure the LINUX environment for your user up to Gnome shell. These are approaches that make the shell new and alive as such all possibilities of UBUNTU management are upheld for the time being at the long run. You must uphold the software for finding comments at their site.
