GMER error message on my Windows OS

I found a few odd activities happening on my machine. My machine has Windows Vista installed with all the latest updates and patches.

My machine started acting weird before a few days, most of the time my PC is very slow. There are few random pop ups which disappears even before I could read it completely. My PC would reboot itself without my initiation and would take long to come back again to my desktop screen.

I did have Anti-spyware software installed on my machine which did not find any spyware. So I decided to install the free version of GMER and when I ran a scan on my machine it came up with the following error message;

GMER has found system modification caused by ROOTKIT activity.

GMER

WARNING:

GMER has found system modification caused by ROOTKIT activity.

                                     OK

Now I am not sure if I can go ahead and remove all the files suggested by GMER since it has a few registry keys also included.

Please Advice.

Hi,

Do the following to run the GMER software successfully:

  1. Download and save the software on the computer.
  2. All the required files will be copied to the system during the first launch of the software.
  3. Select the Rootkit tab and click the "Scan" button.
  4. If you are unable to interpret the output, send the save logged file to [email protected] for any further help.

Visit the following web link for more info on GMER software.

If you suspect that your computer is affected by virus or spyware, you download and run the Safety Scanner from Microsoft that helps in removing viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
