Hello everyone,

I am getting an error from Audacity on Windows Vista. I was trying to record audio. The error is as shown below. Any ideas?

Audio cannot be recorded until this is corrected.

Audition

The sample rates of the audio input and output devices do not match. Audio cannot be recorded until this is corrected.

Use the appropriate system or audio device control panel to adjust the sample rates of the input and output devices to use the same settings.

Hi Michael,
This error is due to unsupported sound sample rate and bit depth. To set the appropriate rates, follow the below steps:
1) Got to Windows notification taskbar and double-click on the Sound/Speaker icon
2) Sound and Speaker settings window pops up.Go to 'Advanced' tab Under the 'Default Format' sub menu, you will find a drop down list with various sample rates and bit depths
3)Select the option '16 Bits, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)
4)'Click on 'OK' and exit the sound/speaker settings windows
5) Restart the Audicity application and start recording
6) You can also watch the You tube video tutorial for the same.
