This problem is so annoying. When I had faced this problem I tried many suggestions to solve this problem but none of them became successful. I was because I had not any backup for restore. As a result I was forced to reinstall windows. But you are lucky if you have the back up. If you have then try to restore it and your problem will be solved. Otherwise you have to reinstall it and unfortunately you have to lose your important data. To protect your data I can suggest you to use Ubuntu from DVD without installing and move your important data.

If this is the first time that this happens, try remembering the last thing you did before the problem happened. If you installed something on your computer the last time it was working well then that activity caused the conflict. Try booting your computer in Safe Mode. Restart your computer again then press F8 before the Windows logo appears.

In Windows Advanced Options Menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode then press Enter twice to boot the computer. In Safe Mode, uninstall the program you previously installed then boot your computer normally. If this doesn’t work, try booting your machine using the last known good configuration.

Restart your computer again then press F8 before Windows logo appears. In the menu, select “Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)” then hit Enter twice to boot it. See if this method works. You may also try removing any newly installed device on your CPU. For example, if you added another RAM card on your CPU, remove it then leave the ones that are previously installed and then see if you can start your computer.
