Hi everyone,

I got this error yesterday after I installed an Antivirus software into my cousin's new laptop.
After I reboot my system, it started this system error pop-ups.

I tried to download gdiplus.dll from Microsoft's website and tried to copy and paste it into system32 folder, but the problem is still there.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Gdiplus.exe supports the GDI window manager that contains several dynamic link libraries of the dll itself. It is responsible for rendering graphics on different systems. There are many related errors to this like Gdiplus.dll Not Found, Cannot find [Path]gdiplus.dll, File gdiplus.dll is missing.

The application failed to start because gdiplus.dll was not found, and Cannot start [Application]. A required component is missing gdiplus.dll. You can encounter this error while installing or uninstalling an application, shutting down or starting up a computer.

In most cases gdiplus.dll related errors are caused by registry problem, a hardware malfunctioning, or a malware infestation. It is the system process that Windows uses to maintain stability of the computer. If an error occurs, this should not be remove easily without knowing what really caused the problem.

To fix this problem you will need to run your computer in safe mode:

  • If you have already downloaded a new copy of gdiplus.dll, then copy & paste will not fix the problem. You will need to register it by using the command prompt. Open the command prompt and type the command line [regsvr32 gdiplus.exe] if successful, restart the computer and if the problem still persist.
  • If you deleted it unintentionally then you’ll just have to restore it from the recycle bin. If the Bin has been emptied, then you have to use a third party program that will recover emptied files from the Recycle bin. Make sure that you really deleted the file before using any application that will recover deleted files.
  • Re-install the program that causes this error to occur. If the gdiplus.dll error shows up after installing a certain program, then reinstalling might fix the issue.
  • Run system restore on your computer to restore the previous state of your computer when it was working perfectly. To open System Restore, Click Start, select all programs, select accessories, select system tools, and click the system restore.
  • Run Windows updates. An update might fix the problem because, patches and service packs that is distributed by Microsoft contains dll files. The gdiplus.dll might be included on the updates.
  • Use any registry cleaner. The registry cleaner will repair invalid entries in the registry that is causing this kind of error.
  • Scan the system file by using the command prompt. Type sfc /scannow on the command line. This will replace the missing gdiplus.dll if the dll belongs to Microsoft.
  • If none of the above works, you need to repair your windows installation. Performing an in-place upgrade will replace all windows system files in your computer. This will surely solve the problem.
  • If you really want to repair this error, because even a system repair won’t solve the problem then you have to install a fresh copy of your windows.

Note : This will erase all the content wherein the windows installation is placed.
