I’m using Mac Powerbook G4 and suddenly my Garageband is not working.

I don’t quite remember when I last used it. Is there a way to check the problem?

There could be lot of possibilities for this happen but can you try this and check whether it is working or not.

First, do a repair permission of that thing then you can do this,

Search your hard  disk for GarageBand files, Then try to locate these files in the result. Those files which end with .plist and .c folders. Then try to delete all those folders or move those to trash.

Then reboot your system and just start the application and see whether it is working or not. if it doesn't work try to re-install the entire garageband software in your system. Make sure you do a repair permissions on it again.

Install only the latest version of the garageband not the older version.
