Which FTP client are you using Lark? The best ftp client that I have used is Filezilla. It is fast, reliable and seldom breaks down.

Another one that might be helpful for you and easy to use is SSH Secure File Transfer Client. It has DOS based and well as windows based user interfaces.

The error you are facing could be a slow internet connection? If that's the case, it means your file doesn't get upload quick enough and the server time outs. Other thing could be that the files you deleted on the server are there in the deleted folder or the recycle bin. Empty that and try again.

It should work and you should be able to upload / download files easily.
