Hi Deborah G. Perry,

Yes, absolutely it was created under Mozilla’s browser code when Firefox had its first formal appearance to the public.

That is why its interface is quite similar to Mozilla Firefox.

Well, most of its previous versions were also derived from the other versions of Mozilla Firefox like version 2.5 of Flock was basically derived or created under Mozilla Firefox version 3.0.

They had their successful web browser created under Mozilla’s browser code until they planned on switching another browser code. They switched on Chromium, Google Chrome’s open-source code.

Their Flock version 3.0 was derived on Chromium. Their Flock was pretty successful itself; however, the company planned to terminate it. They suggested Flock users to migrate to Chrome and Firefox.

Hello Deborah,

The Flock web browser was built to focus mainly in providing social networking as well as Web 2.0 facilities that are built into its user interface.

This browser has been built from its earlier versions that use Gecko HTML rendering engine  which is used by Mozilla.

Its version 2.6.2 that was released in July 2010 was its  last version that based on Mozilla Firefox, hence the many similarities the browser has to Firefox.

It is an open source application and therefore can be downloaded for free from the internet.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl
