Google has announced that Flip board, a successful tablet news application, has joined the search giant as a partner in its APPLICATION PROGRAM INTERFACE (API) strategy. What are the comforts, conveniences or user-friendly functions which Flip board users can expect from a Google/Flip board integration which can make Facebook take a second look at its own features which netizens so love?

The flip board is itself a successfully application and with the addition of Google it will surely replace many other competitors in the field.
About the Facebook and the flip board head to head, I think that the Facebook will still be way ahead of it since it is a pure social networking site that adds a feature of news reading. Since it is more dedicated to social networking it will be still popular.
However, if Google tries or implements something of a chat or adding friends in the flip board using their Facebook account or their Gmail, then this can be challenging for the Facebook as for the people who only want to read will use the flip board and for those people who only want to see what their friends are reading can be done via the application.
