I have just set up a new computer. But I don’t know why I am getting this error that only half my RAM is usable. I have a 16GB ram, but I can only use 8GB of it. I have tried fidgeting with the BIOS settings but can’t see any app that can lead to such reservation of hardware memory. Could you please help?

Fixing Hardware Reserved Memory Issue in Windows

You can resolve this issue by swapping the slots your RAM sticks are using, but in case you have 4 or more sticks, then there is a chance that you might have a mismatch stick sizes. In case you have a mismatch in RAM, you can try installing fresh ones, by eliminating the corrupt ones.

The reason could also be corruption in the operating system. Try running the Windows Experience Index, to find out if there is anything like that. Sometimes even that can trigger Windows into recognizing some new hardware.

Swapping the RAM slots has been the cardinal way to solving reserved memory problems. I think that will help you.
