Fix-it Utilities 11 Error 1606

My younger brother wanted to setup Fix-it Utilities 11 on his PC and this installation error 1606 appeared on the screen when the setup was searching for the amount of hard disk storage available.

The error 1606 was not able to reach connection location and a dialog box containing "retry and cancel" appeared.

I tried to do it for him but the same thing happened. I selected the retry box but it still didn't work.

What can I do to solve the problem?

Thank you.

Hey you just the way out i am telling you. You will succeed in installing the program.

The best course of action would be a quick restore of the program.

If you installed from a CD or download, make certain you have a copy of the install file to reinstall from.

Begin by uninstalling the program.

Following the uninstall make certain you check the install directory at C:Program FilesAvanquest  (the default installation directory) for any remaining files or folders.

Delete any files and folders that you find.

Once you have done this proceed with the reinstall of the software.

There are two possible solutions for this kind of problem:

1. You have upgraded your Windows XP from Windows 98 or Windows ME, and now you are having an incorrect setting in this entry in your registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell FoldersCommon Administrative Tools.

To resolve this issue, download and run Microsoft FixIt wizard for this specific problem:

2. If the above step does not work, this error could be caused by your Norton AntiVirus 2003. Download and run from this location Norton Removal Tool to remove your Norton software:

3. Try installing Fix it Utilities 2011.

When completed, reinstall your copy of Norton Antivirus or install some other antivirus software.
