To solve fatal error follow the steps given below:

  • Ensure that Windows feature of. Net Framework 3.5.1.
  • Open Control Panel. Select Programs and Features and turn on or off Windows features.
  • Verify the dot Net Framework versions 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 using Verification Tool.
  • Please try to collect the log files, if the confirmation is successful, but installation still fails.

Most of the time, you get fatal error when installing a program if it is not compatible with your computer particularly the operating system. For Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, it supports Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2003 R2. It doesn’t support Windows 7 and later operating systems. It requires 1.6 GHz or faster processor, 384 MB RAM, and 2.2 GB free space.

Officially, Windows 7 is not supported but there are people who use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 on their Windows 7 computer. If you have Windows 7 but you can’t install it, try installing a much higher version like Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or Microsoft Visual Studio 2013.
