I got a strange problem with Firefox 5.0. Whenever I typed a site address to the address bar, website appears. Whenever I searched anything from Google & click on the search results, Firefox shows "cannot establish connection to the server". I have tried cleaning my browsing histories & cookies but that did not work. Any help please?

Hey!

  • Go to Options ->Connection
  • Then remove the tick of proxy
  • Choose automatic detection (Firefox) from the list.

You need to make sure that Firefox provides the default settings and check your personal settings. Make sure that it accepts cookies so that you can make a connection. Then restart Firefox and you should be fine.

Also check your proxy settings in Firefox.  Click on tools in the menu and then select Options -> Advanced tab -> Network tab

Then click on connection setting button and make sure the check box "no proxy" is selected. Hope this will solve the problem.

Thanks.

I'll explain more  the steps that you should follow to solve you problem directly.  When you connect to internet through a proxy server, you find that you have problems.   So you need to check your Firefox proxy settings.  You need to follow these steps:

  • On the menu bar at the top of Firefox window, click on Tools Firefox Edit Menu and
  • Then click Options
  • Choose Preferences and click on Advanced Panel and choose Network Tab
  • from Connection section, choose Settings and Change the proxy settings to Select No Proxy

If you can not connect to the internet through a proxy (or don't know whether you connect through a proxy
or  the Internet through a proxy), compare Firefox's settings to another browsers such as Internet Explorer. See Microsoft's guide (such as Safari. See Apple's guide to proxy settings for proxy settings) then, close  the Connection Settings window and after that click OK to close the Options window. Then click Close to close the Preferences window.  Finally, close the Preferences window.

Hope this solution helps you.
