Files cannot be imported into Adobe Premiere CS 5.5

Good day!

I wanted to edit the videos that I have copied in an external hard drive from my video camera.   I was shooting these videos through FS-H200 with a JVC ProHD camera.  The files were in DTE format to Quicktime (.mov).

My problem now is that these files cannot be imported into Adobe Premiere CS 5.5.  Whenever I do so, the error message – “Unsupported format or damaged file.” pops up.  Now upon opening the files through Quicktime, another error is encountered – “Error – 2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie (Filename)”.

Wanting to repair the issues myself, I updated the codec packs:

·         K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit Full (version 5.9, latest)

·         K-Lite Codec Pack 32-bit Full (version 8.4, latest)

·         MainConcept Codec Suite (Broadcast) v5.1 for Adobe CS5

I also tried reinstalling Quicktime by getting the latest version from Apple.  Despite my efforts, these errors are so persistent that I still experience them until now.  My hunch is that the main reason for these problems is with Quicktime.

Does anyone have a solution to this? I badly need to edit my videos.

Hello Jane Jimenez,

Generally Full HD in a MOV file format does not work in CS4. In below I’m going to tell you some suggestion & tricks. So carefuly use them one by one.

Solution 1:

Copy your capture file and paste it to it another directory.

Now rename (view with file extension) the file from “xxxxx.mov” to “xxxxx.mpg”.

Then try to import or open. It may work.

Solution 2:

At first download Squared 5 and install it to your system.

Now try to convert the mov file to codec like Avid dnxhd ( check the quality is 75%) and now import the converted file.

But you may need to download & setup Avid Quick Time Codec LE 2.1

If AC3 sound files not working then copy “ad2ac3dec.dll” file Encore CS4 to CS4 premiere directory.

Solution 3:

Use some Quick time decoder as below>>

For Windows Apple ProRes QuickTime Decoder 1.0 for Windows & Apple ProRes QuickTime Decoder 1.0 for Mac

Not working !! Then use this codec .

If you get your solution then say SOLVED to this thread.
