Hello

One of my friends has been trying to run Filemaker pro 7, but he could not succeed as it ended up in the following error.

The screenshot of the error is as follows:

FileMaker cannot share or be a client of a file because the networking stack could not be initialized

Filemaker Pro

FileMaker cannot share or be a client of a file because the networking stack could not be initialized.

Can anyone please explain what does this error mean and how to fix this issue?

Waiting for your comments and suggestions.

Kind regards.

Hi James!

Please make sure that the “server.pem” file is located where the filemaker pro is installed. i.e (C:Program FilesFileMakerFileMaker Pro) this file is around 5kb.

If the file is smaller than that, then the file is corrupted. Try copying a working “server.pem” in another computer and replace the one you have.

If that didn’t try repairing your windows using your Microsoft CD or refer to this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/811259/how-to-determine-and-to-recover-from-winsock2-corruption-in-windows-se

Are you connected to a network to share your resources, if so then make sure that both of computers are connected properly to share on the network and you will be able to share your data, also visit this link for more info on this problem: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/811259/how-to-determine-and-to-recover-from-winsock2-corruption-in-windows-se

Stack is the memory that needs to be used by the program so check this also and make some memory adjustments.

If you want to install and use FileMaker Pro 7, check that your computer meets the requirements. FileMaker Pro 7 supports Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and Windows XP Service Pack 1. It requires 300 MHz Intel Pentium or faster processor, 64 MB RAM for Windows 2000 and 128 MB RAM for Windows XP, 100 MB free space, and an optical drive if installing from a CD.

For Mac users, it supports OS X 10.2.8 Jaguar until 10.3.2 Panther and requires Apple G3 or G4, 128 MB RAM, and 140 MB free space. If you plan on sharing FileMaker Pro files with other computers over a network, you need to know which type of network you are using. FileMaker Pro 7 supports TCP/IP network protocols.

If you are not sure which network protocol is installed and in use on your computer, check with your network administrator before you begin installation. Also, check that your computer is already installed with a network card before connecting to a network.
