Dear,

I have  recently experienced  a corrupt Word document which will not open in Word with Office 2007 or Office XP, and I have one free Office program called Easy Office after using the document was opened.

It is freeware (you can download from the internet) with all the Office package, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zip,

You can try.

Regards.

The Autorecover feature in Office 2007 allows for you to get our document upon improper exit or power cut.

You will need to change some program options for you allow access to unsaved documents in future as the Autorecover option is disabled by default.

  • Click on the Office button on top left after you open Word document.
  • Click on Word Options and a window appears, click on Advanced option and scroll down the page till the Save sub-heading.
  • Check the “Always create back-up copy” and click OK. This enables creation of back-ups from then on.

If you want to recover your files/documents, open Search at Start button and type *.wbk. This will bring up all back-up copies as they are saved with .wbk file extensions. Also on search you could search C:Documents and Settings<“name of operating system”>Local SettingsTemp or C:Documents and Settings<“name of operating system”>Application DataMicrosoftWord.
