I am currently using the software ‘format factory’ on my PC. I need to convert a .mkv video file to .avi. But when I attempt to convert it, a format factory error 0xc00005 shows up.

The error 0x00005 is a system error. It shows a blue screen called BSoD (Blue Screen of Death). It looks like format factory is corrupted or incompatible for your OS. Try any one of the following steps.
- Use VLC media player to directly play the .mkv file you have. In this way, you need not convert the file to .avi.
- If you still need to convert it, try another software. There is a freeware called ImTOO mpeg encoder. It is compatible with Windows and easily converts video file formats.
- If the video is small in size, try to convert it online. Upload it on zamzar.com to convert it.
