In Fedora 17 with code-name "Beefy Miracle", users can now run the GNOME Shell without the 3D graphics driver. It uses GNOME version 3.4.1 as the default desktop. And there have been a number of improvements and bugs that are fixed already. It can also run with graphics driver that does not have support on 3D acceleration with the help of Mesa 3D driver llvmpipe. LibreOffice 3.5.2.1 is also pre-installed and can be updated to version 3.5.3. Fedora also added GIMP 2.8 with major new capabilities and functions that include single window mode and a more improve text tool. It also has new features for grouping layers and used a polygonal frame on transforming parts of images. Fedora 17 has also libvirt sandbox with the help of Kernel-based Virtual Machine or Linux Containers. Fedora 17 does not require a virtual OS installation since it uses the host's root filesystem but it is write-protected. It also comes with Virtual Switch Open Switch. And a lot more features and developments that make Fedora 17 a sure hit.
