Failure to install purchased electronic download of Adobe CS6

Hello,

I purchased the electronic download of Adobe CS6 student edition and on trying to install the same, I encountered the following error: ‘A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder.’ I am logged in as local administrator and had full access permissions on the machine. And I have more than 420 GB of free space on the computer. Then, I tried extracting the downloaded files at a desktop folder and found that I was able to do so. However, when I try to run the installer, I get an ‘installer failed to initialize’ message. Assuming this was due to a file missing, I tried running the CSCleanerTool and then downloaded the installer again. But now, I am back to square one. The same ‘problem occurred extracting files’ error is displayed on installation. Can anyone point out what I am missing in this installation, please? Thanks for your suggestions.

If you are using or I mean you are trying to install Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard, make sure you are not running it on Microsoft Windows Vista because it will never install. Microsoft Windows Vista is not supported and only Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 can install it.

If you have Microsoft Windows 7 and you are not yet using any Service Pack, you need to update your operating system to Service Pack 1 or higher. By the way, the latest Service Pack for Microsoft Windows 7 is Service Pack 1. You can download it from Windows 7 Service Pack 1 [KB976932]. Before running the installer, make sure you close all running applications.

Once the installation is complete, restart your computer. Try running the installer again for Adobe CS6 Design Standard and see if it works. Your video card should support OpenGL 2.0 and higher. You also need Java Runtime Environment [JRE] 1.6 which I think is already included in the package. QuickTime and Adobe Flash Player are also required for some components.

You can download the latest version of QuickTime from QuickTime 7 Download. For Adobe Flash Player, you can directly download the file from Macromedia: Adobe Flash Player Offline Installer.
