Hello,

I am having issues every time when I start pidgin using Ubuntu and get the following error message saying “An error was encountered reading your buddy list”. How can I remove this error? Help me! I would be grateful to you.

An error was encountered reading your buddy list.

Theay have not been loaded, and the old file has been renamed to/home/Kaplan/.purple/blist.xml~|

Hi,

     It seems there is an issue with Pidgin, even the Windows users also did noticed such issues. Updating both Ubuntu and Pidgin should mostly solve this problem.

But before that try renaming “~/.purple/blist.xml” to blist.xml.old and start Pidgin again. It may just work else update Pidgin as I mentioned or reinstall the software. To update the Pidgin in Ubuntu, open the terminal and type "sudo apt-get update pidgin".
