I had downloaded updates for my Windows to update my PC. After this when I installed them it gave error code 80070002 saying getting an error in service pack installation. What should I do?

This is an update error which occurs if even after successful downloading of update the temporary folder is corrupt or, due to wrong data and time settings in the System. Update error can even lead to System crash. To solve this error follow one of the following methods:

  • Stop the Update:
  1. Open the Run command and type ‘Services.msc’ and click enter.
  2. Select Windows Update and right-click on it and click ‘Stop.’
  • Change the name of Windows update folder:
  1. Select ‘Local Disk (C:)’ in ‘My Computer’ folder.
  2. Search for the Software Distribution folder in the list and right-click to rename it.
  3. Change the name and press enter.
  4. For User Account Control warning select ‘Yes.’
  5. Select Windows Update and right-click on it and click ‘Start.’
  • Change the date/time settings:
  1. Go to the data and time folder by clicking on the displayed time in the right-down corner.
  2. On it, select ‘Change date and time settings.’
  3. Now select the ‘Change date and time’ in Date time option.
  4. Check the time zone and other things to ensure correct time and then restart your PC.
  • You can also download a troubleshooter tool to find the error and solve it.
