Hi all,

I am using HP Photosmart C4385 All-in-One Printer and it was working great so far. I have used it a lot and I never faced any issue.

Now-a-days I am getting errors which are looking incorrect. It is throwing an error saying the color cartridge is not compatible. But, I am using the same for months. I am not sure why it started giving this error all of a sudden.

Is there something I can do in order to fix this issue? Please someone help me out here. Thanks a lot guys!

I think HP cartridges has an expiration date on it. Maybe you can try checking if its already expired. Or maybe your cartridges are failing. Else, you can try to check the cartridge compatibility. HP requires users to use a genuine HP cartridges. If you are sure that you are using a genuine cartridges, try the following:

1. If you live in US, go to the Ink Toner & Paper page and purchase the correct cartridges.

2. Try to remove, inspect and reinstall the cartridges. Just press the power button to open your printer. Open the cartridge door. The carriage will move to the right side, just wait until it becomes idle and silent. Then, press the cartridge down to release it and slide it out. Ensure that it doesn't have the clear protective tape anymore. Else, remove the plastic tape. Next is to slide your cartridge in upward angle to the empty slot, Push the cartridge until it snap. Then install the black cartridge to the right and the tri-color to the left slot. Close the cartridge door and check if you still have the problem.

3. Try resetting your printer. Just turn it off and unplug the power cord to the wall outlet. Wait for at least 15 seconds and reconnect it back then turn the printer on again.

4. If your still having the same issue, refer to this page for more resolutions.
