Wall street Journal as of Monday, June 4 2012, it states that Facebook does have plans to allow children of under 13 years access to the social network. This for them will pull more revenue. The site would allow children to access the site without having to lie and under parental supervision by linking the parent and child accounts.

However, this particular case will be very sensitive as a concern especially from the parents has been raised. Facebook however believes that it will have to establish controls to regulate the content.

It is however a very sensitive issue that will require a lot of consultation before any common ground is reached. Not only that this is not necessary, but this can harm children’s proper development. Scientists from the Oxford University warned 2 years ago that children who are spending too much time on Facebook and similar social networks could suffer in near future from brain and personality disorders.
