External monitor not showing on list

Hi all there,

I need a little help from you. I have a Compaq laptop. I recently bought a Sony Bravia LCD. I tried to connect it via a VGA to VGA connector but nothing happens. Usually a new box pops to configure the new display. I tried again with a VGA to HDMI connector but the result was same.

Well there should be no problem with the TV as my PlayStation connects smoothly. I tried everything with NVIDIA control panel but it seems that the laptop is unable to find the new display. Please provide me a solution.

Try this way. Use the VGA to VGA cable and connect your external to the laptop external VGA port you will find fn (called as function) button on your laptop keyboard. Press the and hold fn and click on the external VGA button. (You can find the external VGA connector button with the special symbol).

You need to press both fn and external display button ps. External display button is not a single button its normally with other function buttons (one of the F1 to F12 buttons with the special symbol).

Then your laptop will automatically search for external display and it will use your external display after. Again you can click the same buttons to bring back screen for the laptop. Now you will see both laptop display and external display are working. Now go to NVIDIA panel and set up multiple display options.

Thanks.
