Ext3 Partition Creation Failed during Installation

I am trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary operating system to my Windows XP system.

I booted from Ubuntu LiveCD, ran installation setup and chose to create an EXT3 partition in an unallocated space of 15GB.

However, during the "Installing system" step, I get a "Failed to create a file system" error. What am I doing wrong?

Error:

Failed to create a file system
The ext3 file system creation in partition #9
of IDE1 master (hda) failed.

Ext3 Partition Creation Failed during Installation

Hi,

this is a very known bug on Ubuntu and face the same problem when coming to the step of making the filesystem, but you can change the installation process and try to make the file system by your own, using the Live CD and Gparted you will have to get in the system with your Live Cd is if you are going to test the system then you can make the changes needed in order to successed in the installation, or even you could enter your Ubuntu on trying mode and use command line to solve the problem and make the partition yourself then reboot and try the installation once again.

hope this helps!

thanks!!
