Our Exchange organization has both Exchange 2003 and Server 2007. Is there a possibility of exchanging from server 2007 mailbox server to Front End server talk?  How can it possibly work?

Exchanging from server 2007 mailbox server to Front End server talk

Hello Barryn,

Well, it may be possible for you to exchange from server 2007 mailbox to the Front End server talk, but then it will depend on the number of users you expect to access the inbox. It may be easier, but not all the time, for you to set up and all-in-one, and then later on migrate to the Front End or the Back end as you may wish and as the organization grows.

But you have to realize the Exchange 2007 does not use front end anymore but it has instead adopted the CAS, and therefore in case you may need to migrate from a CAS server and mailbox setup in exchange 2007, what you will need to do is simply add another 2007 server that takes the CAS role and you then later remove it from mailbox that is on the server.

You can see the documentation that follows on how to setup a CAS server documentation
