You can use the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for your Excel. Just download and install it and you can be able to view, edit or save the workbooks that are made from the new Office version. If you are running Office 2003, you need at least a Service Pack 3 to run this. And you should have a MS Office Excel Viewer 2003.
There are also many converters available for download. One of it is the Excel Converter. It allows you to convert your Excel files to any format from Excel 2007 and 2010.
