Recently I noticed that while browsing the internet, the screen goes black or flicker and recover the original state followed by an error message under the taskbar stating that the Nvidia driver has failed and Windows is recovering from a serious error. I then check the Action Center and could find certain Video hardware errors listed. This error remains and I encountered similar issue while playing WoW game last December. But I didn’t check the Action Center then. I tried reinstalling the video card and update all the drivers. But the problem still persists. I am using a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit computer with EVGA Nvidia GTX 580.  Please help me resolve the issue. The Action Center log is as follows:

Just uninstall the nvidia drivers completely and just reinstall them using the cd or dvd which you got with the GPU.If this does not help then just log onto nvidia website and download the latest drivers for gtx 580.This would help you surely.

 Hi,

If you have 175.16 drivers it won’t work. Uninstall the drivers and try 175.80. It works very well provided you have some AA turned on in games. Also if you had NTune installed, there is your problem there. Don’t install it, its crap and will cause problems with your computer and give you the symptoms you are experiencing.

Dear Kara,
Drivers are very important things to run devices accurately.
Without drivers, devices are just like garbage.
As you mentioned in your question about the error.
It shows that your driver files are damaged and unreadable. You have to reinstall the driver.

That’s definitely a problem with your video card and not with the video card driver. When your display suddenly flickers or goes black for no reason or displays some artifacts on the screen, it could be a sign that your graphics adapter or video card is failing.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC

If you are using the built-in video card in your motherboard, you need to immediately buy a dedicated video card and use it to stop using the built-in video card. Because if you don’t and your video card stopped working, you will end up buying a new motherboard.

But if you are already using a dedicated video card and you frequently experience this problem, it’s time to buy a new video card to replace the old one. When a video card starts to fail, updating the video card driver will not help because the device itself is broken.
