Hello Ammelia,

To resolve that issue, you will need to perform a "Selective Startup", otherwise called a "clean restart", before you install the administration tool:

  • On your computer click Start , and then type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
  • After that go to the General tab, and then click Selective Startup.
  • You will need to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
  • And then go to the Services tab, and choose Hide all Microsoft Services, and then click Disable All.
  • After that click OK, and then click Restart.

Regards,

Carl

Since you did not mention what application it is you are installing, it is probably good to check the program’s specifications since you have an unsuccessful installation. When installing a program on a computer, it is very important to always check the specifications because it will give you an idea if the program will work or not on your computer.

Also, it will help you know what other requirements are needed to be installed as part of the application to make the installation successful. If you are planning on installing a paid software, don’t purchase it immediately without checking if it is compatible with your computer so you will not be wasting money.

If you have a supported operating system but you lack the required Service Pack, you simply need to update your operating system with the latest Service Pack. To have an up-to-date operating system, download one of the following Service Pack updates appropriate for your operating system:

  • Windows XP Service Pack 3 – this is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows XP after Microsoft discontinued its support.
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 – just like Windows XP, this is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows Vista.
  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 – this is the latest and only Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows 7.
  • Windows 8 – you need to update your operating system to Microsoft Windows 8.1 to have a continued support.
