I am getting an error on SAP. It says, "Error while connecting to SAP Crystal Reports 2011; Check that SAP Crystal Reports 2011 was installed correctly". This happens while editing the CR Layout. How can I fix this? What does the error means? Can someone please explain? Thank you in advance.

As the error message is stated, does SAP Crystal Reports 2011 is installed on your machine? If not, you can download it from the link below:

Download SAP Crystal Reports 2011

Also, if you have recently installed and uninstalled any SAP products such as Crystal Reports 2008, uninstall it first and ensure that there are no traces of it especially on the registry before you proceed with the installation of Crystal Reports 2011. If you are trying to implement SAP B1 9.0, you will need to install Crystal Reports 2011 to be able to modify the Crystal Reports Layout. You need to install it separately since it is not included in the package. It is supported but it is not included. Then when you edit the CR Layout on SAP Business 1 9.0, it will open in the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer.

Refer to SAP Note 1705724 for more information.

This problem seems to be related to the installation of the program. But there is one weird instance of the problem where this error was triggered but the user was not actually using SAP Crystal Reports 2011 but rather a much older version, SAP Crystal Reports 2008. But anyway, here is a workaround to fix the problem. You need to remove everything that is related to “SAP” or “Crystal”.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware. Use the supplied password to unpack then run the installer to install Revo Uninstaller. Start Revo Uninstaller then from the panel, uninstall everything that is related to “SAP” or “Crystal”. Follow the instructions to uninstall the program properly and remove any leftovers after the uninstallation. Revo Uninstaller will remove all entries made by SAP or Crystal Reports to the registry.

When Revo Uninstaller is finished with cleaning, start Windows Explorer and navigate to “C:Program Files”. Delete all folders related to “Crystal” or “SAP”. After this, open your web browser and go to CCleaner Free then download and install CCleaner. Once installed, start CCleaner and clean your system. Restart your computer afterwards. After booting, install Crystal Reports back and see if it works.

To register CCleaner, download CCleaner Registration Codes. Use the supplied password to unpack. Open “license-keys_readme.txt” with Notepad and follow the instructions to register CCleaner.
