VMWare Workstation Unrecoverable Error: (vmx) Exception 0xc0000006 (disk error while paging) has Occurred.

VMWare virtual machine is giving me errors while resuming from the suspended mode. It says that this is related to a “disc error occurred while paging.” I was able to find a log file at VM location. The name of that was ‘vmware.log’. A screenshot of the scenario is attached. Please help me on this.

Million thanks.

Error on VMWare Virtual Machine

Hi,

This is incapable of being recovered error. Once you hang up a virtual machine, there would not be an option to shut down or restart the machine, resuming is the only possible option.

However, you can discard the Virtual Machine state by removing or renaming the *.vmss file, this is the virtual equivalent of a power outage in a real machine. Find out location of vmss file from the VMWare guest file location.  Forinstance – H:winsrv2WindowsServer2003EnterpriseEdition-ca6f1a7e.vmss

Remove the file as shown in the below screenshot

Now try to start up the virtual machine but you will not be able to recommence from the suspended status, therefore you will lose all the open data and applications.
