Hi all,

Error with Symantec Backup – “.sis file not found” I keep getting an error from one of our remote sites. Using Windows 2003 and Backup application is Symantec Backup Exec 12.

Error:

Backup – E: Data and the files could not be accessed. Previously error was located in the "SIS Store" folder, so I took that from the two  drives and used the disk defrags, from that point on it is showing the above errors.

From what I can tell “.sis” files are created during and deleted after the backup process has been completed, for some reason backup is trying to recreate files that don´t exist.

Hallo Bridget,

That error could be occurring because the file no longer exists, but it is still available in the backup selection list. So you will need to do the following:

  • First off you will need to check and verify if the file 6ca24351-92a3-11d6-a710-00b0d0d01f34.sis does not exist
  • In the selection list, you will need to click on the View Selection Details tab and then locate that file and delete it.
  • You also choose to add the file into the detailed selection list, and also add a /EXCLUDE parameter behind the file name.

Other workarounds you should try are the following:

  • You can try re-creating the selection list from scratch.
  • Also try stopping the application that uses these files during backup.

Regards,

Carl
