Hi to all,

I have some .avi files on my hard drive that are video clips taken with my Casio camera on a recent vacation. I want to insert them into my PowerPoint 2007 slideshow. Problem is, all I get is audio and an image frame containing an error message: "Video not available, cannot find 'vids:M4S2' decompressor."

I have spent a couple of hours now, trying to determine whether the problem involves codec’s missing from my PowerPoint 2007, codec’s missing from Windows Media Player 11, etc. All attempts to find Microsoft downloads that address the problem have been futile.

Has any of you encountered this problem?

Please share your views and solution.

Thanks in advance.

Hallo Peng,

The error you are getting is as a result of missing drivers on your system. To resolve the issue, you will need to do the following:

  • Try renaming the file from .AVI to .MPG and see if that resolves the issue. You can as well rename the file to .QT, .MOV or .m1v.
  • If you still get issues after renaming the file, you will need to read the following tutorials that will help you understand how PowerPoint plays movies.
  • You can as well try using these logical approach that will help you to troubleshoot videos in PowerPoint.
  • Also ensure that you have the right codecs for the media players that you are using on your computer.

Regards,

Carl
