Hi tech savvy,

I got this weird error message while I attempt to change the state of virtual machine savtsfc01. The error says Microsoft Emulated IDE controller failed to power on with error general access denied error. I am not able to attach the IDE controller it throws an error. Do I need to change any security settings? Help please. Thanks.

There are several causes that such error will appear. To make the problem disappear, please follow these things.

First, make sure that if any problematic hard drive is attached with the VM. If so, remove it first and then run the VM.

If you’ve taken any snapshot of the device, delete the snapshots, shut down the VM to properly merge the snapshots.

Now, your problem should have solved.

If you can, recreate the Virtual Machine and do the operation as the attached VHD might be corrupted.
