Hi guys,

I am posting here a scenario that I encountered while using Filemaker pro, when I am about to update my Filemaker pro, an error message was displayed on my screen, see below the error message.

An error occurred during file download. Please retry to download the update again.

An error occurred during file download.

Please retry to download the update again.

When I analyzed on the error, I am thinking that there might a problem with my connection, by that analysis I checked on my network connection and my internet connection, it was UP and running, so I am now wondering why I got this error, I might overlook some areas of concern,

Please help me identify the cause of the error,

Thanks guys.

Updates of file maker may require those files which were used during the first installation or before the up gradation. That has to be in their original place or otherwise reinstall the file maker from the beginning and make sure this time all the contents are available to the CD or from any other site you’re downloading.

The update will need the original file or if the original isn’t available then the second option is to access Advanced MSI of file maker afterwards to install the updates properly that requires the data1.cab. You can find these files in the folder named FILES
And try to update from a CD instead of any downloaded update, downloaded updates sometimes can’t work properly.
You can locate the update by hitting the browse button and take them to MSI file which you want to update.

Make sure you keep all the source files of your file maker intact in one location. Every update will look for the exact previous file used that is why it is called update. If you are not sure about moving the file then it is best to reinstall the program without uninstalling it. Run the installation file/setup file of the program again and select repair to recopy lost or deleted files. When done, try updating again.

If the above option doesn't work, then there could be some problem with the registry. Try uninstalling your file maker by using the Perfect Uninstall. This tool is available for download and it has its own uninstallation method. A complete removal of the program and all other related files to run the program are deleted when using this tool. Try to give your system a fresh start by using the Perfect Uninstaller and Install back the program and update.
